Junior PreSchool
For ages 3-5 years old
Our Junior Preschool room is designed for children aged 3–5 years, supporting them as they prepare for the transition to nursery school.
The room
The room follows a structured daily routine which helps children feel secure while preparing them for the routines they will experience when they start nursery.
Building independence
Throughout the day, children are encouraged to build independence by practicing everyday skills such as putting on their own coats, pouring their own water at mealtimes and using the toilet independently. These small but important steps help children develop confidence and a sense of responsibility.
Group activities
As children grow and learn, they begin to explore themes and topics in more depth. Activities are designed to encourage curiosity, conversation and exploration, helping children build a wider understanding of the world through play and guided learning. The introduction of group activities also encourage children to listen to one another, share ideas and work together, helping to strengthen communication and turn taking.
Learning
Junior Preschool also introduces children to two new areas of learning: early mathematics and the arts. Through interactive activities, children begin exploring early maths concepts such as counting, recognising numbers and symbols, sorting and problem-solving. These experiences help build confidence with numbers in a playful and engaging way.
Creativity
At the same time, children are given more opportunities to express themselves creatively through art and imaginative activities. Painting, drawing, crafts, playdough, junk art and the use of different materials allow children to develop creativity while also strengthening fine motor skills and confidence in their own ideas. Our staff observe each child’s development closely and plan activities that support their interests while helping them continue to grow and progress at their own pace.
