How do I register my child in Wonder World?

To register your child and secure their place, we require a £100 retainer fee along with a completed enquiry form outlining your childcare needs. This retainer will be refunded when one month’s notice is given before leaving the nursery. Once we receive these details, your child’s place will be confirmed, and we will contact you before their start date to arrange settling-in sessions.

Can I visit the setting before booking a place for my child?

Absolutely! We always invite parents to visit our nursery, explore the rooms, meet our team, and get a true feel for our environment. To arrange a viewing, please reach out to a member of our management team. We prefer to schedule viewings in the evening, when the nursery is quieter, allowing you plenty of time to tour the indoor and outdoor areas and ask any questions you may have.

Will my childcare fees change?

We review our fee structure every April, which may result in adjustments to our pricing. However, parents will always receive advance notice of any changes before they take effect.

Do you accept childcare vouchers/support payment schemes?

Yes, we accept a variety of childcare payment schemes. Each family's eligibility depends on their individual circumstances, and it is the parent’s responsibility to research and apply for any entitlements, as this is not something we handle. Currently, we accept the Tax-Free Childcare Scheme, NICSS Scheme, and childcare vouchers. We understand that setting this up can be confusing, and while our knowledge is limited in terms of the specific steps parents need to take, we will always do our best to guide you through the process and help where we can. If you have any questions, please feel free to speak with Neil for further support.

How do I get my child onto the Famly app?

During your child's first settling-in session, you will receive paperwork to complete, including an application form and permission form. These should be returned either at the second settling-in session or on the morning of your child's first full day. Once we receive the completed application form, we will add your child to our Famly app system. You will then receive an email with a link to access Famly, where you can set up your account and start using the app.

How do I drop off/collect my child?

Along with the paperwork you receive during the first settling-in process, you will also be provided with a fob for each parent. This gives you access to the nursery, allowing you to drop off and pick up your child from their room and talk to staff about your child’s day. If you would like any additional fobs (for grandparents, etc.), these are available for a cost of £3 per fob.

What qualifications do staff hold?

At Wonder World, we take pride in having a team of attentive, caring, and qualified staff who are dedicated to prioritising your child's well-being and development. Our staff hold qualifications at various levels, including Level 2 CCLD, Level 3 CCLD, Level 5 CCLD, and bachelor’s degree qualifications. Any staff member who does not currently hold a childcare qualification upon starting employment with us is enrolled in a childcare course to gain the necessary theoretical knowledge alongside their practical experience. All staff are trained in Safeguarding/Child Protection, Pediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, Allergen Awareness, and Fire Safety. We also have four designated child protection officers with at least one always on-site. Additionally, our staff undergo further training in areas such as Autism Awareness, Manual Handling, Risk Assessment, and Supporting Children's Emotional Well-being.

Do you accommodate allergies?

Absolutely, we are fully committed to accommodating all allergies and dietary requirements. Our food technician is on-site to carefully cater to a wide range of needs, including dairy-free, egg-free, gluten-free, and soya-free diets. Should your child have any specific allergy or dietary requirement, we kindly ask that you complete an information form. This form will be reviewed, understood, and signed by the staff in your child’s room, the management team, and the food technician to ensure continuity of care. Additionally, a whiteboard in the kitchen is used to display all children’s allergies and dietary needs, promoting awareness across the team. We strive to ensure that every child with allergies or dietary restrictions enjoys nutritious, balanced meals alongside their peers, with the same level of care and consideration given to all.

If my child takes bottles, how does this work in the setting?

If your child uses a bottle, we kindly encourage parents to bring in a tin of formula, clearly labelled with your child’s name, which can be stored at the setting, alongside a bottle that your child is comfortable using. Our staff will follow your preferences regarding when your child should have their bottle and how many ounces they take, and we are always happy to adjust this as per your request. If you are breastfeeding, you are more than welcome to bring in expressed milk for our staff to give to your child throughout the day.

Do I bring nappies & wipes?

Yes, we ask that parents bring in nappies, wipes and cream that can be kept in your child’s nappy box. The staff in your child’s room will send a message on the app when these items need replenished.

Can I bring food into the setting?

We kindly request that no food is brought from home in order to ensure we adhere to our strict procedures for managing allergies. Any dietary requirements will be fully accommodated by us within the setting.

What way does sleep time work in the setting?

In Baby Room One, sleep times are flexible and tailored to each child's individual routine. Staff will follow the parents' guidance regarding the sleep your child requires, whether this involves two naps per day or specific timing preferences. In Baby Room Two and Toddler Room, sleep times are more structured, with most children napping after lunch (approximately 12pm to 2pm). This routine ensures that children can fully engage in both morning and afternoon activities, supporting their overall development.

Will staff help my child with potty training?

We're here to support both you and your child through the transition from nappies to the toilet. Potty training usually starts in our Toddler Room (2-3 years), and our staff are more than happy to help guide your little one. We recommend starting potty training at home over the weekend so your child can get used to the new routine before joining us and we please ask that you bring plenty of extra pants, trousers, and socks for those little accidents! We know it can be hard for little ones to focus on potty training with all the fun activities going on, but our staff will always remind them, especially before mealtimes and outdoor play. If you’d like more advice, we have a potty-training guide for parents, just ask any of the staff or management, and we’ll be happy to share it with you.

Can I provide my child’s personal items, such as a comfort toy or blanket?

Absolutely! We appreciate that starting nursery can be a big transition for any child so a little home comfort can go a long way. Please feel free to bring a comforter, blankie or dummy into the setting with your child to help them settle.

Which nurseries & schools do you collect from?

We currently offer collection from a number of local nurseries and primary schools, including Harrison Nursery, Kings Park Nursery, and Waringstown Nursery, and the following primary schools: Waringstown Primary School, Kings Park Primary School, Bleary Primary School, Donaghcloney Primary School, Carrick Primary School, and St. Francis Primary School. Please note that these collection arrangements are subject to change at any time depending on staffing, demand and transport logistics.
